While working the 2010 Stanley Cup Final between the Chicago Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers, I had the opportunity to get access to the Flyers original arena, the Spectrum.
Situated directly across the parking lot from the Wachovia Center and next to the Phillies ballpark, the Spectrum was the home of the notorious “Broad Street Bullies,” a criminal gang masquerading as a NHL team.
So with camera in hand and very-trusting security guard, I enjoyed free reign of what was essentially an abandoned building (with the exception of a few offices still in use). The contrast between this raucous building in its heyday and its current state surely will stand out to fans who still have vivid memories of this old-school arena.
I hope you enjoy the pictures!
